Autumn Boot Drop in Transylvania

Hello Everyone!

One week ago we were in Transylvania with over a dozen volunteers from several different countries giving Roma Boots to Roma children in a town called Budila. This was a very special boot drop for various reasons. We were invited to speak to students in the beautiful city of Brasov about our cause and why young people should get involved in service, giving back and volunteering. We had the opportunity to meet with politicians in Bucharest and share with them our desire to create a better future for Romania's orphans. We had ProTV, Romania's largest television network join us along and capture our boot drop experience. Lastly, we had the Mayor of Budila offer us a newly renovated learning center where we can begin teaching children who have received our rain boots how to read and write.

The story by ProTV was featured nationally and it generated great buzz and positive feedback from Romanians around the country. On December 1st, the country's National Day which celebrates the union of Transylvania with Romania, Roma Boots' Founder/CEO Samuel Bistrian, will be featured alongside other influential Romanians who are making a positive difference in the world. We are both, humbled and grateful, to see Roma Boots becoming a catalyst for change and inspiration not only in the lives of the poor, but of the middle and upper class in Romania.

Thank you for your continued support!

Summer 2013 Update

Hello Everyone!
Well, the last eight months have been very exciting for all of us at Roma Boots!

I'm writing this letter as we're embarking on our first boot drop to Haiti and the fifth boot drop of the year.  In February we were in Romania, in April in Honduras, in May we were in Moore, OK (1st domestic boot drop) and in June, in Nepal. We know that rain boots are the most practical of footwear when it comes to children
living in poverty - Whether they're in cold or warm climates, rain, snow or mud, rain boots are essential. In the previous newsletter I sent out last December, Roma Boots was extending to new territories, new cities and new boutiques. Though that continues to be the case for us and doors continue to open, I must say the thing that has caught us all by surprise has been the overwhelming need for rain boots, both domestically and abroad. With the increasing publicity and exposure we're receiving - charities, churches & NGO's have become even more aware of Roma Boots and have expressed a great need for rain boots. Consequentially, we've given away more boots than we've sold and we still have not given enough. From Hurricane Sandy to the recent tornadoes in May that have left Moore, Oklahoma looking like a war zone, to the third world countries we've visited, rain boots are the most urgent, sanitary and functional footwear, especially for children.
As a result we have partnered with Red Cross, World Vision, Global Aid Network & Linking the World to maximize our impact and leverage our efforts in order to help those in most need, both domestically and abroad. Roma Boots has always been about spreading love and hope in the most sustainable and practical ways and that is our main mission - In order for us to keep up with the increasing demand we need your help.

This April we celebrated 3 years of giving poverty the boot! We've now entered our 4th year and thousands of lives have been changed because you believed in what we are doing. Our goal now is to give away 10,000 boots between Nov. 29th which is our Day of Hope and April 3rd which will be our 4th year anniversary. In order to do so we need to raise funds for a portion of those boots. These are in addition to what we're giving away through our 'buy one, give one model'.
